“Loot” follows Molly Wells (Rudolph) as she rebounds after divorcing John Novak (Scott), a wealthy tech billionaire to whom she had been married for 20 years. Yet while their relationship may be broken, Molly’s bank account certainly isn’t, as her $87 billion settlement inspires the newly single 40-something to go on a spending bender.
Despite being on the edge of a midlife crisis, Molly comes back down to earth when she reconnects with the Wells Foundation, the charitable organization she founded years ago. But with a penchant for philanthropy and her colleague, Arthur (Faxon), threatening to throw her newfound peace into major upheaval, Molly’s new normal might not be all it’s cracked up to be.
