“[Backstage] is my No. 1 source to find auditions, and I have had great success!” says Leah Pressman, a Backstage reader and subscriber for the past three years. In that time, she’s been cast in a horror indie film called “Canvas of Death,” an AT&T commercial, a viral promo video for an upcoming movie, and on “Saturday Night Live” as a background actor.
In “Canvas of Death,” which follows a group of friends staying in the Hamptons as they’re mysteriously killed off, she played Sarah, the protagonist’s best friend.
“I was cast right from my profile,” Pressman says. “With Backstage’s detailed profile display, résumé section, photo album, and video link setup, the writer and director told me she saw everything she needed to see on my page and knew I would be a great fit for the fun-loving best friend!”
Pressman describes her experience on set as an “absolute blast” and a “great first experience in onscreen death”—by way of electrocution. “I didn’t know what to expect when going on an extended location shoot with a bunch of strangers, but we all instantly connected and really worked hard together,” she says.
