Love ‘Harry Potter’? Apply to These Gigs

After 32,000 kids reportedly auditioned for the sought-after lead roles in the upcoming HBO and Max adaptation of “Harry Potter,” production has announced the series will start shooting in Summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, home of the iconic film series. While the series’ casting team continues to review its tapes and find its core cast (which may or may not include Paapa Essiedu, who is rumored to play Severus Snape), we’ve rounded up some similar gigs that are also looking for talent to spread the magic. “The Making of Harry Potter”

Warner Bros. Studio Tour is currently seeking live performers in England, aged 18 and older, for “The Making of Harry Potter,” a live show in a visitor attraction. Talent must meet height requirements and have strong dance skills. Submissions must be received by mid-January, followed by production auditions on Feb. 3–7 and Feb. 10–14 in Watford. Training, fittings, and rehearsals commence in April, followed by performances on May 8 through September. Pay is undisclosed by the production, but complimentary parking, shuttle bus access, and gym/studio facilities access will be provided.

“Hangry Harpies”

Golden Grand Piano Productions is seeking talent for “Hangry Harpies,” a dark comedy series “about the clashing of wildly emotional and often hangry housemates who just happen to be fantastical harpies living in modern-day New York City, as ordained by a seriously swanky Zeus.” Two actors of any gender, aged 18–60, are wanted for the lead role of Lola and the supporting role of Hermes. Filming will take place on Jan. 26–28 and Feb. 9–11 in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Pay is $300–$1,200 for up to six days of work.

“Treasure: The Giving Gift”

Join the cast of “Treasure: The Giving Gift,” a new fantasy short film highlighting the quirky nature of love, relationships, loneliness, and irony. Los Angeles-based actors, aged 18–75, are wanted for on-camera and voiceover roles. There will be a virtual table read and rehearsals in March and early April, followed by filming on April 25–27. Day player roles are unpaid, but all other roles will be paid $125–$200 per day for up to three days of work, with meals and a copy provided.

“The Maid and the Dragon Slayer”

The Maid and the Dragon Slayer,” a “Game of Thrones”-style romance epic from Reelshort, is seeking actors, aged 9–55, for lead roles. Filming will take place on Jan. 18–Feb. 7 in Los Angeles and Boston. Pay is $1,500–$1,750 for seven days of work, with lodging and flights provided for out-of-town filming.

“Kingdom of Darkness”

Casting is now underway for “Kingdom of Darkness,” a 1913-set feature film heavily inspired by Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life” and Robert Eggers’ “The Witch” where a satanic worshipper is sent by the Devil from the spirit realm to kill a devoted faithful Christian woman until he falls in love with her and battles between his own morality. Two actors, aged 20–25, are wanted to play the lead roles of Taylor and Thomas. Filming will take place in late Fall 2025 in Ontario. Pay is $2,000–$4,000 for two weeks of work with meals, travel reimbursement, and reel footage provided.

“Sour Candy”

Casting is underway for “Sour Candy,” a student film about a young girl named Josephine who befriends the friendly monster under her bed to escape her challenging home life. An actor with strong movement skills, aged 18 and older, is wanted to play the role of the monster Dusty. Talent will work on Jan. 17–24 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pay is $100–$200 with food and transportation assistance provided.
