Gallagher’s adaptation brings the story from Mara’s hometown of Dublin to the Chicago suburbs. Marissa Irvine (Snook) is a mother who finds herself in the midst of every parent’s worst nightmare when her son, Milo (newcomer Duke McCloud), goes missing. Marissa thought she had sent Milo off on a playdate at a new friend’s house, but when she goes to pick him up, she’s confronted with the unexpected—those who live there have never heard of him and she doesn’t know the people who live there. As news about Milo spreads throughout the community, gossip and rumors begin to infiltrate the case, making it hard to discern who’s telling the truth and who’s concealing their guilt.
Matt Lander and David Rubin (“Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Apples Never Fall”) are the primary CDs.
