From beach read to binge-watch, “The Five Star Weekend” arrives on Peacock this summer with an A-list cast. Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling 2023 novel, the miniseries was adapted by Bekah Brunstetter (“This Is Us,” “Maid”). The drama stars Jennifer Garner (who’s also on board as an executive producer), Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, Chloë Sevigny, and D’Arcy Carden.
All eight episodes of “The Five Star Weekend” drop July 16, leaving fans with enough time to read (or re-read) the book before the story unfolds onscreen. Here’s what to know before the show’s premiere.

The story centers around ultra-successful food blogger Hollis Shaw (Garner), whose seemingly perfect life is suddenly shaken by the devastating loss of her husband. To overcome her grief, Shaw plans a luxurious “five-star weekend” at her Nantucket home, inviting four of her closest friends—the “stars”—from each era of her life. But as the girls’ getaway unfolds, so does the drama. Boundaries are pushed, old secrets are revealed, and the women are forced to face uncomfortable truths about each other and their lives.

In addition to Garner, Brunstetter, and Hilderbrand, executive producers for the series include Beth Schacter (“Billions”), Sue Naegle (“The Day of the Jackal”), Ali Krug (“Dead Ringers”), Merri D. Howard (“The Last Thing He Told Me”), and Minkie Spiro (“All Her Fault”), who is also directing.
