The family reunion is happening. “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair” is a four-part revival of the beloved 2000s sitcom, set to premiere on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10. Fan favorites Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek are all returning to reprise their starring roles, alongside a mix of other familiar faces and new additions to the cast.
The miniseries is written and executive produced by Linwood Boomer (“3rd Rock From the Sun”), the creator of the original series. All four episodes are directed and executive produced by Ken Kwapis (“The Bernie Mac Show”), who also directed several episodes of the original series. Below, we break down everything you need to know about the highly anticipated revival.

The story picks up almost 20 years after the original series finale. All grown up, Malcolm (Muniz) is living with his daughter, Leah (Keeley Karsten), and girlfriend, Tristan (Kiana Madeira). He’s spent the last decade purposefully keeping his distance from his family, but when his parents demand Malcolm attend their 40th wedding anniversary party, he’s pulled back into the mix.
“Malcolm in the Middle” ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006. The sitcom revolves around Malcolm, a young genius with a high IQ and a highly dysfunctional family. Throughout the series, Malcolm deals with the challenges of his eccentric family and becomes the unofficial middle child after his eldest brother, Francis, is sent off to military school. The show stood out for its unique format, in which Malcolm often narrated the episodes from his perspective and spoke directly to the viewer on camera.
