Created by Ronan Bennett (“The Day of the Jackal,” “Top Boy”), “MobLand” is a British crime drama that debuted on Paramount+ in March—after a very quick production cycle. (According to MovieWeb, filming wrapped just four days before its premiere!) Originally developed as a spinoff of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” “MobLand” ultimately became a standalone project shortly before production commenced. Following its Season 1 finale last month, the streamer renewed the series for a second installment.

What is “MobLand” about?

“MobLand” follows the Harrigan crime family—led by husband and wife Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve (Helen Mirren), and their son Kevin (Paddy Considine)—as they battle a rival crime family to retain their territory. In their efforts to remain on top, the Harrigans hire Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) to protect them and take out the enemy. With a mob war on the horizon, Conrad must do everything in his power to preserve his family’s legacy. However, he’s also hiding skeletons in his closet—ones that threaten to upend the Harrigans’ united front, thereby jeopardizing their future from within.
