Actor Naomi Sheldon (“Malory Towers”) and writer-producer Gabbie Asher (“Riviera”) adapted “The Girlfriend” from Michelle Frances’ 2017 novel of the same name. The series focuses on Laura (Wright), a mother who seemingly has it all: an adoring husband (Waleed Zuaiter), a successful career, and a loving son (Davidson). But when her only child brings home his girlfriend, Cherry (Cooke), Laura begins to lose her grip on all she loves (and, maybe, reality, too). Tension builds between the two women from the start, leaving Laura with an uneasy feeling about the new girl in their midst. Could Cherry be out to benefit from the family’s social status, or are Laura’s fears mere paranoia? Only time can reveal the truth behind Cherry’s presence.
