What’s in store right now? Turns out there’s big news for the film adaptation of “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” from Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Warner Animation Group. Here’s everything we know so far about the new film.

“Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” officially has a director.

Director Jon M. Chu is taking us on to some new and exciting places these days. The “In The Heights” helmer and director of the highly anticipated forthcoming “Wicked” adaptation will now take the reins on a film adaptation of “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” from Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Warner Animation Group. Audiences will have to wait a while before the feature makes it onto the big screen—2027, in fact—but according to Deadline, the project has been in the works for years. The trade publication cites a working relationship between WAG and the Dr. Seuss Estate since 2018 when “the parties started to discuss other titles to focus on, and ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’ quickly became their next priority.” Chu, who has yet to do an animated project but who reportedly told Warner Bros. “he very much wanted to direct an animated film in the future,” will work with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions to bring the beloved book to life. The project joins several Dr. Seuss projects in the works for WAG and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, including a film adaptation of “The Cat in the Hat,” the feature-length animated “Thing One and Thing Two,” and the currently streaming “Green Eggs and Ham” on Netflix. Animation and voiceover expert Mary Hidalgo is the casting director behind the latter project.
