The CBS legal drama “Matlock” has officially been renewed for a second season. While a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, the show is expected to return later this year as part of the network’s 2025–2026 lineup. Kathy Bates (“A Family Affair,” “American Horror Story”) received standout praise for her starring role on Season 1, which is loosely based on the 1980s series of the same name. Skye P. Marshall (“Good Sam”) and Jason Ritter (“Raising Dion”) make up the ensemble cast and are expected to return for Season 2.

Madeline “Matty” Matlock (Bates) is an attorney who comes out of retirement to join a prestigious law firm and quickly gets noticed for her tactfulness and cunning abilities. Little does everyone know that she has an ulterior motive: to find the culprit of her daughter’s death, which she believes was part of a cover-up, by accessing the firm’s confidential files and security systems.
