The fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit series “Outer Banks” is still filming in North Carolina, but star Madelyn Cline already feels the weight of a post-Pogues life. “I’m actually terrified,” Cline tells us on the most recent episode of In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast. “It’s already hitting, for sure.”

Since 2020, the actor has played the wealthy Sarah Cameron on Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke’s show about star-crossed teen love and treasure hunts on the North Carolina coast. She’s also carved out a formidable film résumé with projects that include Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion,” the slasher legasequel “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and, most recently, Lasse Hallström’s romance “The Map That Leads to You” opposite KJ Apa. But for six years, she’s always come back to “Outer Banks.”

“[The series] is the greater part of my 20s. It was my college in a way. When I think about my 20s, I’m going to think about ‘Outer Banks,’ ” Cline says. “It’s a very special thing that we all got to share, and it was an incredible springboard. I feel like, if I can do this, I can do anything.”

On this installment of In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast, Cline gets candid about filming Season 5, the definition of onscreen chemistry, and manifesting the next phase of her career. Listen and subscribe to hear the full conversation:
