Gird your loins, because Miranda Priestly is returning to the big screen. “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which was first announced in 2024, is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. In a recent Instagram post, 20th Century Studios revealed that the long-anticipated follow-up to the beloved 2006 film is currently in production.
Much to fans’ delight, it’s been confirmed that the original cast has signed on, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. David Frankel (“Sex and the City,” “Hope Springs”), who directed the original movie, is also returning. With filming underway, the wait for a sequel—two decades in the making—is no longer moving at a glacial pace.

2006’s “The Devil Wears Prada” is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name. It follows Andy (Hathaway), a recent college graduate who dreams of becoming a journalist but instead finds herself working as a junior assistant to Miranda (Streep), the demanding and powerful editor-in-chief of the high-fashion magazine Runway.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will focus on Miranda as she navigates the decline of the print media industry. Her former assistant Emily (Blunt) is now a high-ranking executive at a luxury fashion group. Details are limited about what Andy will be up to in the sequel—or whether she’s still working as a reporter at the fictional New York Mirror, as she was at the end of the first film.
Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the screenplay for “The Devil Wears Prada,” is back for the sequel, along with producers Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt. The project is being developed by 20th Century Studios.

Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Caleb Hearon, Conrad Ricamora, and Helen J. Shen. Adrian Grenier, who played Andy’s boyfriend Nate in the first film, will not return.
