Emily Brontë’s famous 19th century novel, “Wuthering Heights,” is getting a new film adaptation. In a Gothic-style Instagram post depicting sketches of skeletons, Warner Bros. confirmed the movie will be released on February 13, 2026, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The film stars Margot Robbie (“Barbie,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) opposite Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn,” “Priscilla”). Emerald Fennell, known for “Saltburn” and the Oscar-winning “Promising Young Woman,” is writing and directing. The project is already generating a lot of talk among devoted fans of the novel and fashion historians who are curious to see Fennell’s take on the story.
While we await the official trailer, here’s the scoop on who else is involved and what we know about the movie so far.

Set in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, “Wuthering Heights” tells the tragic love story of Catherine Earnshaw (Robbie) and Heathcliff (Elordi). Their relationship begins in childhood after Catherine’s father adopts the orphaned Heathcliff and brings him to live at their farmhouse, called Wuthering Heights, in the rugged Yorkshire countryside of England. Heathcliff is mistreated and rejected by others due to his rough behavior and lack of social status, but he and Catherine form a close bond because of their similar wild temperaments.
Years later, Catherine ultimately marries Edgar Linton, a man with a higher social standing, despite still loving Heathcliff. Heathcliff becomes consumed by revenge, which shapes the remainder of the story. The book is narrated in hindsight by Nelly, the longtime housekeeper at Wuthering Heights. Published in 1847, “Wuthering Heights” is the only novel written by Brontë.
The film is adapted, written, and directed by Fennell. In addition to directing, Fennell has acted in several period dramas, including “The Crown,” “Call the Midwife,” and “Anna Karenina.”
“Wuthering Heights” is produced for Warner Bros. by MRC and LuckyChap, the production company co-founded by Robbie, her husband, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara. Sara Desmond (“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”) is the executive producer. The casting team includes CD Kharmel Cochrane (“Nosferatu,” “Saltburn”), Rose Powell as a casting associate, and Andrew Heard for extras casting.
