Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition!

“The Perfect Find”
Love is in the air at Netflix where Gabrielle Union and “Jezebel” filmmaker Numa Perrier have created a perfect union of their own. Union will star in and produce the AGC Studios movie “The Perfect Find” for the streamer, which will be directed by Perrier. An adaptation of the Tia Williams bestseller, the rom-com will follow Jenna Jones (Union), a woman hopeful that her new job in beauty journalism will represent a fresh start in her life. Leigh Davenport and Perrier have adapted the story for the screen. No further casting has been announced.

“Run Rabbit Run”
It’s been a decade since Daina Reid’s last feature project (2010’s “I Love You Too”), but the filmmaker will re-team up with a recent collaborator for a new project. The “The Handmaid’s Tale” director will helm the upcoming “Run Rabbit Run” for XYZ Films, and series star Elisabeth Moss has been tapped to play the lead. The film, written by Hannah Kent, follows a fertility doctor who believes firmly in life and death but must challenge her own values and confront a ghost from her past after noticing strange behavior from her young daughter. Reid has been busy on the television side of filmmaking for the past decade, including “Handmaid’s Tale, “Space Force,” and “The Outsider,” among many others. Look for her to possibly collaborate with another part of the “Handmaid’s Tale” team: casting directors Bialy/Thomas & Associates.

“Joika”
First reported by Deadline, “Jojo Rabbit” and “Leave No Trace” rising star Thomasin McKenzie will lead the dance biopic “Joika.” McKenzie will play American ballet dancer Joy Womack, who became only the second American to graduate from the infamous Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. Womack will serve as a consultant on the film and will oversee McKenzie’s training and act as her double on the film, which will be written and directed by James Napier Robertson. Filming is set to take place in New Zealand in early 2021.

“Balestra”
In another female-led, sports-centered project, Tessa Thompson is set to star with Marwan Kenzari in the upcoming psychological thriller “Balestra.” Directed by Nicole Dorsey, the story follows disgraced competitive fencer Joanna Bathory (Thompson), who is hoping for an Olympic comeback, assisted by a prototype device that allows her to extend her training into her sleeping hours. The screenplay was written by Imran Zaidi based on an original story by Aron Eli Coleite. Principal photography will start likely later this year between the talent’s current commitments. Andrea Kenyon and Randi Wells are the casting directors.

“Rodeo Queens”
Dakota Johnson will get another chance to flex her comedic muscles over a Amazon, where the actor has been attached to executive produce and star in “Rodeo Queens,” a new mockumentary-style comedy. Created and showrun by Christy Hall (“I’m Not Okay With This”), the new series follows an ensemble of Roseo Queen hopefuls as they compete for the coveted crown “Portlandia” co-creator Carrie Brownstein will also direct.

“On the Fringe”
Argentinian actor Juan Diego Botto will make his feature directorial debut with a pair of megastars as Penélope Cruz and Luis Tosar will star in the upcoming “On the Fringe (En Los Margenes).” The Spanish-language film, which will be told over the course of a day and center on the housing crisis, will follow interweaving stories, including that of a woman (Cruz) who has 24 hours to prevent herself and her family from being evicted from their home. Botto is aiming to begin shooting the ensemble piece in Spain later this year. No further casting has been announced at this time.
