Sisters! Behold! “Hocus Pocus 3” is officially in the works. Following the highly anticipated 2022 sequel, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are returning as the iconic Sanderson sisters in what will be the franchise’s third installment. In early May, Deadline reported that the film is in active development at Disney Live Action Studios.
“Hocus Pocus 3” was subtly teased a few years ago, but now it’s officially moving forward. According to Deadline, major salary negotiations have been resolved, and the project will have a theatrical release—unlike the 2022 sequel, which went straight to streaming.
The original 1993 film remains an essential Halloween classic, and this third chapter promises to deliver the same magical nostalgia. Consider this your ultimate guide for everything “Hocus Pocus 3,” from production updates to casting calls.

The plot details are under wraps, but Midler revealed on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” in October 2025 that there was a script for the third movie. “They sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant,” Midler said. “So, I got very excited. And now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.”
Disney Live Action Studios is officially developing “Hocus Pocus 3.” The project seemed uncertain after the departure of former production president Sean Bailey, who first announced it in 2023, but development is now back on track—this time with a theatrical release in sight. (Disney has not officially confirmed these plans.)
The main cast is certainly ready to return. Earlier this year, Parker shared an update with Variety, confirming, “They’re working on it. Where Bette goes, I go. Bette is like a 13-year-old girl with a new bike. She’s like, ‘I have wheels. Let us travel.’ ”

At this time, Midler, Parker, and Najimy are the only cast members confirmed to reprise their iconic roles, and no casting director has been announced. However, despite sitting out “Hocus Pocus 2,” original cast members Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, Thora Birch, and Jason Marsden have all expressed enthusiasm about reprising their roles as, respectively, Max Dennison, Allison Watts, Dani Dennison, and the voice of Thackery Binx.
According to Collider, Disney has not yet reached out to them, but they remain ready if invited back. Birch even shared her excitement with “Entertainment Tonight,” saying, “I’d like to know what they land on for how Dani wound up. I’m super open to the idea.”
