If two heads are better than one, there’s no doubt two leads generate double the drama. That’s probably why Netflix’s “Ginny & Georgia” became an instant hit for the streaming service. With a mother-daughter duo at its core, the lead actors—Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry—carry the ensemble cast; and with creator Sarah Lampert and showrunner Debra J. Fisher at the helm, the series had viewers hooked when it debuted on Feb. 24, 2021. “Ginny & Georgia” has already wrapped filming Season 4, meaning the next installment will likely be headed to the streamer in late 2026 or early 2027.
What does it take to become part of this dynamic cast? In this guide, we outline everything you need to know about joining “Ginny & Georgia,” including what went into finding its stars and advice from the show’s core cast members.

“Ginny & Georgia” follows 15-year-old Ginny Miller (Gentry) and her 30-year-old mother, Georgia (Howey), as the two settle down in Wellsbury, Massachusetts, along with Ginny’s nine-year-old brother, Austin (Diesel La Torraca), after Georgia’s husband dies. Having lived somewhat on the run, Georgia wants to put down roots. As the family attempts to find its place in their new community, Ginny is welcomed by an existing trio of best friends, making them a fierce foursome. While Ginny attracts the attention of two classmates, Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Hunter (Hunter Chen), her mother also catches the eye of three men. However, the family’s new dynamic hangs in the balance when Ginny and Austin learn that Georgia’s husband’s death was not exactly an accident, after all.

Alyssa Weisberg (“Star Trek”) of Alyssa Weisberg Casting, John Buchan (“Priscilla,” “Spotlight”), and Jason Knight (“Priscilla,” “Spotlight”) are the primary casting directors behind “Ginny & Georgia.”
As Weisberg told us, “I look for the best and most interesting actors for the roles. Finding actors who have a great presence and bring something new and fresh is such an amazing challenge.” One day, that could be you.

Fisher told Entertainment Weekly that Weisberg initially thought Ginny would be the most challenging character to cast—but she turned out to be the first. “[Weisberg] is amazing. She would be secretly on Instagram, social media; she’s more stalk-y than Sarah and me put together,” Fisher explained. “We had Antonia fly out to L.A. a couple of times, and we knew right away that she was Ginny.”
“Very rarely do you come across scripts [with] characters that you can totally relate with. I felt like Ginny was finally that,” Gentry told Teen Vogue. “I thought to myself, ‘Wow, this is a really great character. I'm just going to audition for it and see what happens.’ But I was so busy with school wrapping up that I almost forgot I sent the tape. Two weeks later, they called me for a producer session over FaceTime. A week after that, suddenly, I’m flying out to LA for our chemistry read.”
Gentry was so determined to land this role, in fact, that she developed a blood clot in her leg while flying back and forth—and told absolutely no one. “I was like, this is too important. I’m just going to deal with it,” she shared. “The doctors were like, ‘We need to see you this and such amount of times.’ I was like, ‘Listen, I’m going to Canada [to film the show]. We gotta fix this, ASAP.’ I’m fine now, [and] that was kind of hard, but I wanted it to work. This was my dream. It’s a very serious thing, I don’t want to make it light, it was very scary—but I wanted to make sure that I did everything I could to follow through with this. And I’m so glad I was able to.”
Finding the Georgia to Gentry’s Ginny, however, took a bit longer. “So Brianne was the last, literally, the last to be cast. We had to find the perfect Georgia that balanced beauty, that’s going to kill you with a smile but will stab you in the chest without seeing it coming,” Fisher told EW. “We met actresses from the U.S., Canada, and England and on one of our last days, Bri got back from a European vacation and put herself on tape. We watched the tape really late Friday night or on the weekend, and we were like, ‘We must meet this woman.’ Monday morning, we brought her in, read her with Toni and we were like, ‘We just found Ginny and Georgia. There they are.’ ”

“Ginny & Georgia” Season 4 wrapped filming in March 2026. As documented on the show’s subreddit, its star Gentry celebrated the last day of filming with an Instagram Story announcing the news.
However, fans are concerned that Season 4 might be the show’s last, as Waisglass (Maxine) also posted an Instagram Story the following day, writing, “That’s a wrap wrap wrap! Love this cast. Love this crew. Max, I will miss you.” While we cannot definitively parse Waisglass’ seemingly bittersweet farewell, we are hopeful that Netflix will clarify details about the show’s fate sooner rather than later. Stay tuned to this space for updates.

“Ginny & Georgia” has finished filming Season 4, and with the series currently in limbo, there are no open casting calls available at this time. But the show has issued public calls in the past. In an open call posted to Facebook, the series sought fresh faces of all ethnicities aged 18+, with a focus on actors and background talent to portray students, neighbors, townspeople, and more. An earlier call also noted that the show was seeking actors for featured roles that would “have the opportunity to appear in key episodes alongside the main cast.”

Go with your gut. Gentry might be relatively new to the entertainment industry, but she’s a seasoned pro when it comes to parsing good and bad advice. In fact, her decision to follow her heart, and not listen to one person’s opinion, ultimately helped her book her lead role as Ginny.
“The best advice I’ve ever been given was to never forget who I am and to never change my values to please someone else,” she told Cultured. “The worst advice came from a professor in university who told me not to audition for a movie because, ‘Actors never book anything,’ and to instead audition for his play. I auditioned for the movie anyway, booked it and it allowed me to get representation. A year later, I booked the lead role of Ginny in ‘Ginny & Georgia.’ I had only three days of experience on a film set and it came from the movie I booked a year prior.” Taking a chance on her dreams helped Gentry make them come true.
Ground yourself in gratitude. Waisglass recognizes that acting isn’t easy. Even those who appear to be on top know what it’s like to hit rock bottom. But if you approach each experience with a grateful heart, it will make everything much easier. “It’s a really hard job and you have to have gratitude every day,” she told Sailfin Productions. “Even in the moments that are hard you need to be grateful. Most people work their asses off every single day and go to school for one thing and do that one thing for 50 years. But what we get to experience is this whole slew of different roles and jobs that are going to make our lives so rich. You have to be so grateful in the moments when it’s painful and you get told no. Rejection sucks, I’m still dealing with it. But the rejections make the good times so much better.” She continued, “I would also say, don’t give up. People I know who have given it their all are rewarded. So I would say, stay in it and be grateful.”
Give your goals a fighting chance. Romeo admits that he’s learned more from failure than his success, describing the process as “essential.” But he’s also learned that you must fight for what you want in life. “For those wishing to follow this path of becoming an actor, I’d say never give up. If you know deep down inside your core that this is what you must do, then do it. There will always be a chance you will fail, but then again, there’s a chance you will succeed. And succeed more than your wildest imagination,” Romeo told Authority Magazine.
“My brother showed me this picture of two men digging for diamonds,” he continued. “One of the men gives up while the other keeps going. The man that didn’t give up found the diamonds right after the other man gave up. My brother would remind me of this story any time I felt as though I was stuck and it would always be my encouragement that I may be closer to my goals than I realize. Now the idea of giving up is no longer an option for me. I am in this career for the long haul.… You must believe that you are the one. Extraordinary things can happen to you if you keep going.”
