CBS is saddling up for its next big Western. “Y: Marshals” is the latest “Yellowstone” spinoff from creator Taylor Sheridan. Currently in production and slated for a midseason premiere in spring 2026, the new series brings back some familiar faces from the “Yellowstone” universe. Luke Grimes (“American Sniper,” “Fifty Shades of Grey”) returns as Kayce Dutton and will be working behind the scenes as an executive producer. He’s joined by “Yellowstone” cast mates Gil Birmingham (“Under the Banner of Heaven”), Mo Brings Plenty (“Cowboys & Aliens”), and Brecken Merrill (“This Is Us”), who are all returning for the spinoff, as well. While plot details are scarce, we do know the story centers on Kayce and is set in the present day. Want to know more about how you can be part of the action? Here’s what we know so far about “Y: Marshals.”

The series follows Kayce Dutton (Grimes) and his life after the Yellowstone Ranch. Per the show’s official logline, Kayce will combine his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring justice to Montana, balancing family, duty, and the psychological costs that come with defending the area. After five seasons, the “Yellowstone” series concluded with Kayce signing his family’s ranch over to Chief Rainwater, with the agreement that Kayce, his wife, Monica, and his son, Tate, can remain on a small parcel of the otherwise undeveloped land.
Several “Yellowstone” actors will reprise their roles for “Y: Marshals”:
- Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton
- Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton
- Gil Birmingham as Chief Thomas Rainwater
- Mo Brings Plenty as Mo
New cast members are Arielle Kebbel (“John Tucker Must Die,” “Gilmore Girls”) as Belle, Ash Santos (“Pulse”) as Andrea, Tatanka Means (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) as Miles, and Logan Marshall-Green (“Big Sky,” “And Just Like That…”) as Pete Calvin.
Sheridan is producing the series for MTV Entertainment Studios with David C. Glasser executive producing for 101 Studios. Grimes, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox are executive producing. Greg Yaitanes will executive produce and direct the premiere, with Spencer Hudnut (“SEAL Team”) as showrunner and writer.
As reported by the Salt Lake Tribune, “Y: Marshals” will film in Summit County, Utah, this fall. Keep your eyes on this page for more updates if we have them. In the meantime, here are even more acting opportunities to wrangle:
