The following is a list of theatres operating under Equity's LORT (League of Resident Theatres) contract. They are listed alphabetically according to state, by city within each state, and by theatre within each city. The letter that follows the name of each theatre (A, A+, B, B+, C, D, or Experimental) indicates the category in which that theatre operates. Category is based on the certified actual weekly gross receipts averaged over the theatre's three fiscal years of 1999, 2000, and 2001. (See "LORT Salaries" on page 35.) In some instances, theatre companies have two or more theatres, so therefore each theatre is categorized, which is why you might read two or more letters next to a company's name. Following the name of the company is its address, phone number, and the name of its key artistic or administrative personnel.
These are not the only Equity regional theatres. The 50 states are filled with Equity theatres that operate under Letters of Agreement (LOA) and Small Professional Theatre contracts (SPT). An all-inclusive list of those theatres would be too extensive to include here. Note that the feature article includes both Equity and non-Equity theatres.
