Get a chance to do as the Portlandians do! IFC’s “Portlandia” is looking for background actors to play Portland residents in the upcoming season. Plus, national productions of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Seussical,” and a TV pilot in today’s casting roundup.
“PORTLANDIA”
IFC’s “Portlandia,” a satirical sketch TV series starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein that “lovingly illustrates the people and values of Portland, Oregon," is casting its eighth season and is looking for background actors. Male and female talent aged 18 and older are sought for background roles in the show. The production shoots in Portland. An hourly rate will be provided.
“SICK”
Casting is underway for “Sick,” a pilot about a small town in the aftermath of a tragedy at a local elementary school. Male and female talent aged 18 to 80 are available for several lead, supporting, and day player roles. There is also a day player role available for a young female actor ages 5–9. Auditions will take place in this summer, date TBD. The production will shoot in the winter in the Tri-State area. Pay is $150 minimum per day for all cast members.
“BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”
Project Educational Theatre Inc. is casting for a four-month tour of “Beauty and the Beast.” Male and female talent aged 20–35 are needed for four principal and supporting roles, including the lead roles of Beauty and Beast. There is an open casting call on July 22 in New York. The production rehearses Sept. 14–24 and tours Sept. 26–Dec. 14 in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Pay is $600 per week, plus a weekly bonus of $100 paid at the end of the tour.
“SEUSSICAL”
Casting is underway for an upcoming Texas production of the musical “Seussical.” Male and female talent aged 18 and older are sought for several lead and ensemble roles in the show, including The Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant. Audition is by appointment on June 24 and 25 in Farmers Branch, Texas. The production runs Sept. 15–24. Some pay will be provided.
