Michael B. Jordan is one of those exciting and widely respected stars who many agree has often just missed the Oscar nomination threshold. That wrong could be righted with “Just Mercy,” Warner Bros.’ upcoming biopic about Bryan Stevenson, the real-life lawyer who has freed dozens of innocent death row inmates, featuring Jordan as leading actor and co-producer.

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx co-stars as Walter McMillian, who spent years on death row before the nationally publicized reversal of his murder conviction in 1993. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a screenplay from Cretton and Andrew Lanham based on Stevenson’s book, “Just Mercy” also stars Oscar winner Brie Larson, plus Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, and Rafe Spall, and will appear in theaters Dec. 25.
