Kids Now Casting: Earn $1,275 a Week to Play Sonny in Kennedy Center’s ‘In The Heights’

Turn up the stage lights and get ready to show people what life is like in Washington Heights—from center stage at the Kennedy Center. 

The Kennedy Center For Performing Arts’ “Broadway Center Stage” series, which presents fully-staged concert versions of beloved musicals, is currently casting a major role in its upcoming production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights.” The musical, which opened on Broadway in 2008, is set over the course of three days in NYC’s Washington Heights. 

A young, Hispanic or Latino male actor, aged 14–17, is wanted to play the role of Sonny, a scrappy, funny, and charismatic teenager. Talent must be able to sing, move well, and rap, and must also live in the Washington, D.C. area. 

There will be an open casting call on Dec. 12 in Washington, D.C. Rehearsals begin March 5, 2018, in NYC, followed by travel to Washington, D.C. on March 19 and a show run of March 21–25. The actor playing Sonny will be paid $1,275 per week.
