Disney+’s “National Treasure” Series Adds Catherine Zeta-Jones to Its Cast
An international treasure has been tapped to join the cast of Disney+’s upcoming “National Treasure” series. According to Variety, Catherine Zeta-Jones is the latest addition to the project and will play Billie, “a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code.” She joins the previously announced Lisette Alexis, Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith in the new project. We first reported on the series back in May 2020 when it was still in the rumor stage. So, this exciting casting announcement proves that the show is now well underway. A continuation of the film franchise of the same name, the series will reportedly follow Jess (played by Alexis), who “sets off on an exploration to discover the mystery of her family history and with the help of her friends seeks to recover historical lost treasure.” Rick Muirragui will write and executive produce the series, which ABC Signature will produce. Production is set to begin this month in Louisiana. Veronica Collins Rooney is the casting director.
