An elaborate heist can take months to set up, but it can go sideways in minutes. Apple TV’s new international thriller “12 12 12” unfolds across three timelines: the 12 months before a robbery, the 12 hours in which it occurs, and the 12 days that follow. Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: Brave New World”) and Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”) star on opposite sides of the chase, with a bank vault beneath Zurich at the center of it all.
The series premieres Nov. 13 with two episodes. For actors interested in who’s behind the heist drama and how its cast came together, here’s everything we know about “12 12 12.”

Forget telling a heist story from beginning to end. “12 12 12” plays with the clock.
The series is centered on an audacious Zurich bank robbery that pulls a disgraced FBI agent (Mackie) and an American career criminal (Dornan) into a high-stakes chase across Europe. Instead of following the crime chronologically, each episode jumps between the 12 months of preparation, the 12 hours the plan is in motion, and the 12 days afterward.

Writing duo Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble created the series. Their TV credits include the comedy-mystery “Wild Bill” and the crime drama“Thorne: Sleepyhead.”
Kari Skogland, who previously worked with Mackie on Disney+’s limited series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” directed multiple episodes, including the pilot. Mackie and Dornan serve as executive producers.
Kate Rhodes James (“House of the Dragon,” “Alien: Earth”), Katalin Baranyi (“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” “FBI: International”), and Anja Dihrberg-Siebler (“Tatort,” “Call My Agent Berlin”) handled casting for the series.
James told us what gets her attention in an audition.
“It’s all in the dialogue. You don’t need to embellish it,” James said. “It’s harder when the scripts aren’t as good, and then you have to dip into your arsenal of tricks to try and pull it off; but when [a project has] been plotted so beautifully, and [represents] the characters so beautifully, sometimes the best thing to say to an actor is, ‘Stop acting. Trust that we know why we’ve brought you into the room and trust the dialogue.’ ”
