Netflix is reviving its hit miniseries “The Perfect Couple” for a second season. Season 1, based on Elin Hilderbrand’s best-selling murder mystery novel of the same name, made waves in 2024, thanks to its star-studded cast and twist-filled storytelling. The next installment is based on Hilderbrand’s novel, “Swan Song.” Nicole Kidman, who starred in and produced “The Perfect Couple,” will return as executive producer but isn’t expected to appear onscreen. While the new season is still in the early stages of development, here’s what we know so far.

Published in 2024, Hilderbrand’s novel “Swan Song” returns to the shores of Nantucket, Massachusetts, the same setting as “The Perfect Couple.” This time, the story centers on the mysterious Richardson couple, whose arrival is the talk of the island. After purchasing a $22 million mansion and not one, but two, yachts, the newcomers begin throwing lavish parties to flaunt their wealth. The drama swells when the Richardsons’ mansion suddenly goes up in flames, and their most essential employee disappears without a trace. “Swan Song” is the fourth and last novel in the author’s Nantucket series.
