Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.
“Wedding Crashers”
The party is back on! Speaking recently with Entertainment Tonight, Vince Vaughn confirmed that he and co-star Owen Wilson, are considering reprising their characters from “Wedding Crashers” for a sequel. According to the actor, he, Wilson, and director David Dobkin “have been talking for the first time seriously [about] a sequel to that movie” and that there is an idea they feel good about. The original 2005 New Line Cinema film starred Vaughn and Wilson as divorce mediators who made a pastime of crashing wedding receptions in order to meet women. Rachel McAdams, Isla Fisher, and Bradley Cooper also starred, and while it’s too early to know if any of them will return for the potential sequel, it’s worth keeping an eye out on original casting team Beach/Katzman and Pat Moran.
“Dog Soldiers 2”
It’s been 18 years since the release of the hit werewolf horror film “Dog Soldiers” was released, and despite regular talks (and planned production dates) of a sequel, it still hasn’t come to fruition. However, according to Den of Geek, Neil Marshall is hoping to throw fans another bone. The writer-director and stars Kevin McKidd and Sean Pertwee have reportedly had conversations about bringing the project to life and Marshall says, “There’s more of a chance now than ever before.” The 2002 cult horror film centers around a routine military exercise that turns into a nightmare in the Scotland wilderness when oncoming attackers turn out to be werewolves. The sequel has been in development since 2004, when “Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat” was scheduled to begin a month-long shoot. Several directors had been attached to helm the project, including Andy Armstrong, Michael J. Bassett, and Rob Green, but the film, last slated to be released in 2014, never saw the light of day. Marshall has actually said in the past he is planning for “Dog Soldiers” to be a trilogy. Marshall most recently worked on “The Reckoning” and just landed the horror feature “The Lair,” which is now casting and is planning a spring production start. As for when “Dog Soldiers” will star its production, we’ll have to wait and see. Horror vets Andrea Clark and Jeremy Zimmermann were the original film’s casting directors.
