WATCH: Daniel Radcliffe Screen Tests for the First ‘Harry Potter’ Film

Daniel Radcliffe’s screen test was the beginning of a legacy that would expand into eight films (nine if you include the upcoming Eddie Redmayne–starring prequel, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”) and a $15 billion franchise.

This five-minute clip not only shows a taste of Radcliffe’s emotional range, but also proves his ability to take direction. He was the perfect protagonist for the great antagonist of the first few installments, Severus Snape, played by the late Alan Rickman.
