“Black Adam”
After over a decade on the developmental slate, the DC feature “Black Adam,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is finally in production: Back on April 10, Johnson shared a photo for Day 1 of filming with the caption, “History in the making, extremely excited and what a humbling moment to share with you…We have an all star [sic] production crew - incredibly talented, galvanized, committed and focused to raise the bar and deliver something SPECIAL for the world. This one is an honor.” (The Atlanta Filming Instagram also shared a photo of Johnson landing in the city this week for filming.) The highly anticipated superhero film was first announced in 2007 but is now officially a spinoff to 2019’s “Shazam!” which is currently working on a sequel of its own. Johnson will play the titular superhero with Sarah Shahi, Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and more. Jaume Collet-Serra, who has most recently worked with Johnson on the upcoming “Jungle Cruise” will helm the long-awaited blockbuster with Rory Haines, Sohrab Noshirvani, and Adam Sztykiel writing the screenplay. It is expected out in theaters on July 29, 2022. “Shazam!” casting director Rich Delia is also casting the spinoff. Find out what the DC Universe CD looks for in actors in the audition room here!
