What is “Big Brother” about?

Each season on “Big Brother,” a new group of contestants, known as houseguests, move into a fully wired house where their actions are captured 24/7 by surveillance cameras and microphones. Completely cut off from the outside world, the houseguests live together for about 100 days, forming alliances, developing rivalries, and competing in weekly challenges. The houseguests vote to evict someone each week until one contestant remains, winning the $750,000 grand prize. Players also compete for the coveted “head of household” title, which grants immunity and special privileges for one contestant every week.

The show airs full episodes on CBS weekly, but live feeds are broadcast on Paramount+ for viewers who want to watch and track the players in real time.

Who is the casting director for “Big Brother”?

Jesse Tannenbaum (“Survivor,” “The Amazing Race”) is the show’s current CD. Prior to that, Robyn Kass (“Squid Game: The Challenge”) was the CD for 14 seasons. On his official YouTube channel, Tannenbaum shared a video giving advice on how to submit an audition tape for “Big Brother,” with the main points being:

  • Submit an official, full-length audition video (not a social media short). Avoid using filters and make sure the frame is well-lit with good audio.
  • Introduce yourself and share details about your personal life (the more specific, the better) before explaining why you should be chosen as a houseguest.
  • Speak directly to the camera and remember that authenticity is key—don’t read from a script or use cue cards.
