“Nanny”
The Stay Gold Features and Topic Studios horror film “Nanny” has found a home of its own in Manhattan as filming is underway in the city. “Us” actor and upcoming “Titans” star Anna Diop was announced as the film’s lead at the beginning of June. According to signs in the Lower Manhattan area, filming will take place at Walker Street and Church Street through the end of the week of June 29.
Diop will star as Aisha, an immigrant nanny, piecing together a new life in NYC while caring for the child of an Upper East Side family until she “is forced to confront a concealed truth that threatens to shatter her precarious American Dream.” Nikyatu Jusu will direct from her own script, making her feature directorial debut. Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Spector, Sinqua Walls, and more will also star. (The “more” previously included Phylicia Rashad, who was recently in the news due to her controversial comments following the release of Bill Cosby. Jusu released a pair of tweets of her own following the news seemingly distancing herself from Rashad’s comments, but no official updates on the cast have been reported.) Maria Zuckerman, Ryan Heller, and Michael Bloom will executive produce for Topic Studios (“Leave No Trace”), as will Rebecca Cammarata (“Harriet,”) of Stay Gold, Sumalee Montano (“This Is Us”) and Grace Lay of LinLay, and Jusu.
