Just in time for Halloween, the four-part animated miniseries “Marvel Zombies” premieres Oct. 3 on Disney+. Based on an alternate timeline introduced in the Marvel series “What If…?”, the show will reunite several Marvel Cinematic Universe stars in voiceover roles, including Florence Pugh (“Thunderbolts*”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”), Simi Liu (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), and Hudson Thames (“Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”). And although “Marvel Zombies” is animated, it’s rated TV-MA for elements of horror, action, and gore.
For fans who are eagerly awaiting this latest MCU chapter, here’s a full guide to the show’s cast, plot, and creative team.

The miniseries explores the alternate timeline from Season 1, Episode 5 of Disney+’s “What If…?” titled “What If…Zombies?!” The episode, released in September 2021, drew inspiration from Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips’ “Marvel Zombies” comic series, which was first published in 2006. The story follows a group of survivors navigating a zombie apocalypse where many Avengers and other superheroes have been infected by a zombie virus.

Many MCU actors will be reprising their roles to voice characters on the animated series, including:
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
- Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, aka Hawkeye
- Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, aka Ironheart
- Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch
- Awkwafina as Katy Chen
- Simi Liu as Shang-Chi
- David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian
- Randall Park as Jimmy Woo
- Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel
- Hudson Thames as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man
Terri Douglas (“Captain America: Brave New World,” “Deadpool & Wolverine”) is the ADR voice casting lead for the miniseries. Bryan Andrews, who was a storyboard artist for many Marvel projects such as “Avengers: Endgame,” “Captain Marvel,” and “Doctor Strange,” is directing, showrunning, and executive producing. Zeb Wells (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) created and wrote the screenplay for “Marvel Zombies.”
Because “Marvel Zombies” is billed as a miniseries, there are currently no details about additional episodes or casting information. However, there’s always a possibility the show could get renewed like other shows that were intended for a limited run.
