Another upcoming biopic is making headlines. Last week we reported on the new Anna Nicole Smith film, now the Bob Marley project is making noise—specifically when it comes to who will play the King of Reggae. Want to know who has been cast to play Bob Marley in the upcoming film? Here’s everything we know about the Bob Marley biopic from Paramount, and (more importantly) Kingsley Ben-Adir’s new role.
Kingsley Ben-Adir Will Play Bob Marley in Paramount’s New Biopic
According to Variety, the “One Night in Miami” star Kingsley Ben-Adir has been tapped to star in the upcoming Paramount biopic of Bob Marley. The casting decision wraps a year-long search for the right actor to play the reggae icon in the film, which will focus on Marley’s life and career from his earliest days of performing with The Wailers to his death at the age of 36. “King Richard” helmer Reinaldo Marcus Green will direct the Marley pic with “Richard” writer Zach Baylin on the script. In addition to Paramount, Rita, Ziggy, and Cedella Marley will produce for Tuff Gong. A casting director has yet to be announced, but Green always works with Avy Kaufman, including on the aforementioned “King Richard.”
