“Scary Movie 6” is officially happening, and the original cast is coming back. Anna Faris (“The House Bunny,” “Mom”) and Regina Hall (“Girls Trip,” “The Hate U Give”) are making a long-awaited return to their iconic roles after skipping the fifth installment in 2013. They’ll reunite with Shawn, Marlon, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, who launched the horror-comedy franchise and last worked on “Scary Movie 2” in 2001. The Wayans brothers will co-write and produce the new film, which is being developed by Miramax for Paramount, nearly 25 years after the original “Scary Movie” hit theaters in 2000. Marlon confirmed the exciting news by sharing a throwback photo of Hall and Faris on Instagram.
With a theatrical release date set for June 12, 2026, here’s everything you need to know about “Scary Movie 6,” including returning cast members, where to find casting calls, and more about the next chapter of this iconic franchise.

The exact plot is under wraps for now, but we can likely expect “Scary Movie 6” to follow the franchise’s signature style of spoofing other horror movies through comedic satire and coarse humor. The first “Scary Movie” film parodied horror movies that were popular around the time of its early 2000s release, including “Scream,” “The Blair Witch Project,” “The Sixth Sense,” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
The original cast members reprising their roles are:
- Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell
- Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks
- Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks
- Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins
- Dave Sheridan as Doofy

Neal H. Moritz (“The Fast and the Furious”) is also a producer. “Scary Movie 6” is directed by Michael Tiddes, who previously directed several Wayans brothers films, including “A Haunted House” and Netflix’s “Naked” and “Sextuplets.”
